SHOPPING FOR SCRIPTURE

In the last blog we spoke of familiar scriptures.  We put it in the setting of those who have come to woo us to their heresy.  But to a degree, we all are guilty of “shopping for scriptures” that make us feel good and even sadly at times, to justify what we are doing in order to ease our consciences.  The Word should make us feel good, but we must be very careful not to start depending on our own understanding when reading the scriptures.  That is when the enemy comes in and starts to work.  Never forget that Satan knows the Bible and sadly better than most Christians.  He used the Word of God and tried to get Jesus to depend on his own understanding and not that which God intended those particular scriptures to mean.  Jesus, knowing the truth of the Word, cut Satan off by using the truth of the Word of God.  He resisted him with the very Word Satan was trying to use against him.  And as the Word also says, if you resist him, he must flee. James 4:7 (KJV) 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Some think that by saying “get thee behind me Satan” the devil is going to flee.  Not so.  You were given the armor of God to use in these instances.  One of those pieces of armor is a sword, and that sword is the Word of God through scripture.  The Word of God is total truth.  And to use anything but this is to walk right into the hands of the enemy.  As we have stated before, you MUST know the Word of God or it will be used against you.

The Word describes our enemy, the devil and his legions of demons, and gives us a warning about him in 1Peter 5: 8 KJV “Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour” Anyone who is not feeding you the true and unaltered Word is part of the armory of weapons used by Satan.  He can use them because they have walked away from the finished work of the Cross.  They are no longer living for Christ, but are pushing their own beliefs and agendas.   So while we are busy looking for Satan to jump into the room physically or through possession of some kind attack us, we overlook his use of man as his main tool to bring us to our knees before him (Satan).  You say, I would never do that!  Think again.  You may, if you are listening to seducing spirits, cleverly disguised as teachings of man in the church, already be doing that very thing!  And if you are doing so make no mistake, you are putting your salvation in jeopardy.  (Colossians 2:18 “Let no man beguile you of your reward.”)  Our only reward as Christians is eternal life through the finished work of the Cross which is Christ and Him crucified.  In these end times we MUST be in search of scriptures that refute the word of seducing spirits!  1 Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit (the holy spirit) speaketh expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.”

The enemy is very subtle.  He and those who serve him use scripture as they have perverted it to serve their own purposes and ultimately to make you subject to the second death in the lake of fire.  If you are someone who believes that “once saved always saved” or “Eternal Security”, you are deceived by a perversion of the Word too as we pointed out in Colossians 2:18.  There are countless other scriptures that clearly refute “once saved always saved.”
Because you don’t have the Word in you, you fall easily to these seducing spirits.  They are delivered by seducing pastors, apostles, and prophets.  You fall in love with them and therefore what they say, as opposed to making Christ first in your life.  This is idolatry.

The Dominionist movement truly believes that the Church Age has ended.  They shop for scripture too!!  They quote Amos 9: 11-12 among many other scriptures to tell those who will listen to their lies that it is they, the chosen prophets of God, who must restore the earth to it’s former perfection before THEY can summon Christ from the right hand of the Father to come back to see what a good job they did.  Then Jesus can just sit down and start his millennial reign!  If indeed these “chosen” prophets could do this, why did God send His only Son to die such a horrible death at the cross to save us?  Why we could have straightened ourselves out just as these prophets say they are going to do.  The mere words “Earth” and “perfection” is an oxymoron!  The truth of Amos 9: 11-12 states, “In that day I (Christ) will restore David’s fallen tent.  I will repair it’s broken places, restore it’s ruins, and build it as it used to be so that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear my name declares the LORD.”  Now does this sound like man can do this?  If these mere mortals, these modern day prophets cannot back up what they are preaching with solid and unaltered scripture then DO NOT follow them.  They are “FALSE PROPHETS”.  The Bible is a FINISHED work.  It has brought us from Genesis all the way to the future in Revelation.  No where in this Word does it speak of a “Joel’s Army” being raised up to overrun the earth and force subjection to Christ.   In a previous post we have proven that “Joels Army” is a supernatural one, not one made up of self anointed, and self appointed prophets.  That would be as tragic as the Crusades in their day or Islam forcing their religion and Sharia law on the world today.  The Word does not speak of legions of prophets being raised up to do ANY great work.  If it were so, the Book of Revelation need not have been written.  God showed many things to John, the author of the Book of Revelation, and nowhere were these special prophets given special messages from God to do “Kingdom Age” work on Earth.  Only Jesus will usher in the true Kingdom Age and set up His rule for a thousand years!  Tomorrow we will examine Psalm 110 which will further discredit the Dominionist movement.  Take heed!  Please remember that following the teachings of man, is “not knowing” the Word of God.  You will come to just echo the heresy and lies of your earthly teachers.
